San Marco Conference of St. Vincent de Paul 28 May 2020
The San Marco Parish and our community have responded with great love and with unbounded and generous financial support in this financial crisis brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic..
Especially throughout the Season of Lent we were reminded, over and over again, of the great love and mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As Vincentians, we strive to spread that divine love and mercy to those in need. We pray always for the grace “to have ears to hear the “cries of the poor,” to have eyes to “seek and find the forgotten, the suffering or the deprived,” and to have hearts that “bring God’s love to the poor…”. (from St. Vincent de Paul Society USA)
We thank each one of you for joining us in this endeavor. Through your spiritual and financial support, we provide assistance to those in need in our community with rent and utility payments and for many other needs. We also serve the needy through our continuing Meals on Wheels program. We lend a helping hand to bring stability in this crisis situation.
What an incredible chain of mercy – from Jesus to you, from you to Saint Vincent de Paul, from SVDP to our brothers and sisters in need. What a wonderful God we serve.

As we see even more now the distress of the vulnerable, the San Marco Conference of the Naples St. Vincent de Paul Society is making an outreach for volunteers. Clearly the needs of our neighbors are physical but they are also spiritual; therefore, able and zealous volunteers who are not only good people but good at doing something are being asked to give back to make a difference. It is obvious we all have time for what we consider important, but do you have the heart to give of yourself not simply your possessions. Not to be paid for work is priceless, for you are great when you serve. St. Vincent de Paul volunteers are of course concerned with the physical well being of our neighbors but more importantly strive to respect the human spirit. This interpretation of our meaning and purpose in life allows both the giver and recipient to grow in spirituality and connect with the divine.

Obviously the demand for aid is significant, but the reward for extending a helping hand is even greater. Should you be willing to answer this call, please contact Samantha Maturo at 239-775-1667 extension 1014. The words of our founder Frederic Ozanam should be our motivation:
“Let us do without hesitation whatever good lies at our hands”.
